Eagles Wings’ Trust provides life-changing challenges through the medium of aviation for inspirational people who can rise above circumstances, discouragements or disabilities and soar on Wings Like Eagles. Whatever your background or past mistakes, we at Eagles’ Wings Trust are here to help you believe in yourself, step out in faith and be the person you were created to be. As the poet William Blake once said “No bird soars too high, if he soars on his own wings.”
So what is it about flying? When asked a similar question, Wilbur Wright famously said of the early pioneering flights at Kitty Hawk in 1903 “More than anything else, the sensation is one of perfect peace mingled with an excitement that strains every nerve to the utmost, if one can conceive of such a combination.”
Amelia Earhart, the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic said more simply; “You haven’t seen a tree until you have seen its shadow from the sky.” And Helen Keller, the deaf-blind woman who became a role model for millions of people put it this way, “It is wonderful to climb the liquid mountains of the sky, behind me and before me is God and I have no fears.”
Edward Vernon Rickenbacker, an American fighter ace in World War I and Medal of Honor recipient, saw the truth in this thought, “Aviation is proof, that given the will, we can achieve the impossible.”
So be inspired to aspire, and aspire to inspire! - Dust off those feathers and get ready to “…. slip the surly bonds of Earth, and dance the skies on laughter-silvered wings.” (John Gillespie Magee, Jr., Spitfire pilot 1922 to 1941). Whether it is simply the experience and exhilaration of a single flight at the controls of a light aircraft or the first step towards the goal and freedom of your own Pilots Licence, what are you waiting for? We at Eagles Wings’ Trust are here to help, encourage and support you, the aircraft are waiting, and the only thing missing is you!
To quote William Langewische, the Journalist, author and pilot, “I ask people who don’t fly, how can you not fly, when you live in a time in history when you can?”

WHAT WE DO
Eagles’ Wings Trust has been set up for the benefit of people with disabilities, ex-members of HM armed forces who have been injured whilst serving their country and for young people (under 25’s) who would not otherwise have the opportunity to learn fly and who would benefit from the experience. (Project Eagles’ Wings).
Disabled pilots/trainees are administered under the British Disabled Flying Association (BDFA) working in partnership with Eagles’ Wings Trust, whilst the primary focus of the Trust is on the development of opportunities for young people who meet our pre-course entry requirements. Project Eagles’ Wings cadets follow structured full time selection and training programmes with academic study and general management duties incorporated into the daily routine conducted alongside of the flight training provision.
For people with disabilities or injuries resulting from active service with HM Armed Forces, there is no age restriction and facilities are offered at subsidised rates along the lines of a commercial flight school. Local accommodation is also available at discounted rates for individuals and families accompanying pilots/trainees. Contact us direct on 01286 830800 or by e-mail info@eagleswingstrust.org for more information.
